Right Sizing the Facility
Whitefish High School Redevelopment
Right Sizing the Facility
Size Based on Enrollment Projections
The proposed design is almost exactly the same size as the current facility - 120,500 s.f. relative to 120,000 s.f.
The size and program for the building was determined based on detailed enrollment projections. To ensure that the facilities are designed to meet actual needs, the consultants provided enrollment projections using the most widely accepted method, “Cohort Survival,” a technique that is actually required by many states for school planning. The method uses the actual current enrollments in the elementary and middle schools to project the future high school population. The results, shown here, demonstrate that WHS enrollment will go back up to its historic average of between 500 to 600 students. The proposed design will comfortably hold up to 600 students. In the event that the school needs to be expanded in the future, it is designed to accommodate the addition of a new wing.
During the next 10 Years, the student population increases and then stabilizes between
500 to 600 Students.
